Cricut’s flagship machine is the Cricut Maker with the Cricut Maker 3, which has brought many improvements over the latter’s first generation of machines—wondering how to use Cricut Maker 3. Keep reading to learn everything about Cricut Maker 3.

Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to use Cricut Maker 3 to its full potential, and even though most of you probably know your way around it, there’s a high chance you won’t use it to its full potential. And you might have missed out on some great features.

Now that you know all about Cricut Maker 3, it’s time to learn how to use Cricut Maker 3 properly.

Remember that all the Cricut machines are created to be as easy to use, but the Cricut Maker 3 is still the most complex, so knowing how to use Cricut Maker 3 to the fullest isn’t something you’ll be able to do from the get-go.

First, Prepare Your Cricut Maker 3

You need to understand that cutting machines are generally loud, and even though the Cricut machine is built to be as silent, there is only so much the designer can do because you are still talking about a cutting machine hammering all types of materials.

The first thing you should do before starting with the first project is to find a space where your Cricut Maker 3 will be placed, and if you are one of those lucky few who can clear an entire room and you can convert it to one dedicated crafting room, it’s even better.

Once you’ve your space, the exact location where you will keep your machine is just as important. This is mainly because the Cricut Maker 3 is the largest machine (22.6 x 7.09 x 6.22 inches or 57.4 x 18 x 15.8 cm), so you’ll need to find a space for it that won’t hinder your activities.

Secondly, the machine is also quite heavy (22.7 lbs or 10.3 kg), so ensure the furniture you place on is sturdy. Also, since you’ll be working with a machine that will probably be working for a good few hours to cut and emboss all materials, you should ensure that your furniture can handle vibration.

Once you’ve got space for Cricut Maker 3, you can finally go ahead and unbox it and plug it in.

Connect To The Internet and Update Firmware

Okay, so you’ve unboxed Cricut Maker 3 and plugged it in, but that doesn’t mean you can go ahead and get started with projects, or at least not for now.

Cricut Maker 3 is not just a machine; it is a complex tool powered by dedicated software. With Cricut updating its software regularly, it goes without saying that if Cricut Maker 3 is brand-new, it may need some firmware update.

This can be done via the Internet, and the best part about the Cricut Maker 3 is that it can connect to the Internet via both a wired (USB connection to PC) and wireless (Bluetooth) connection.

However, while we advocate for less cable management, firmware updates can take some time to complete, and since Bluetooth connectivity isn’t great for data transfer, we recommend that, at least for now, You will use a wired connection to the Internet.

Follow the step below on how to set up and update Cricut Maker 3’s firmware:

  1. First, visit the Cricut Design Space webpage.
  2. Next, download and install Cricut Design Space for your PC.
    ● It works on Windows and Mac.
  3. After that, follow the on-screen guidelines.
  4. Then, create your account or sign in with your Cricut ID.
  5. Now, set up a new Cricut Maker 3 machine.
  1. The Cricut Design Space app automatically scans Cricut Maker 3 and detects if it
    requires any firmware update.
    ● Design Space will then list the firmware version available.
  2. Then, press on Update.
  1. Wait for the completion of the progress bar to appear on the screen.
  2. Cricut Maker 3 restarts automatically once the update is done.
  3. Lastly, choose Continue.
